If you are infiltrating Moonrise Tower in Act 2, you must think about making Astarion Drink Araj Oblodra’s Blood in Baldur’s Gate 3. In Moonrise Tower, you will meet a merchant who offers you potions in exchange for your blood. In the middle of the conversation, she tells you that she realizes that your companion is a Vampire Spawn. We all know it’s not normal for a Vampire Spawn to walk around alone. So, in the middle of a tense moment, you reply that you are the owner of the Vampire Spawn, thus protecting Astarion. This makes her open up a bit, and she tells you that she has been obsessed with vampires since she was a little girl, so she confidently asks Astarion to suck her blood in exchange for a potion.

Astarion does not want to drink the blood of the merchant. He will share more of his past and motivations in due time, but we will spoil it for you. When Astarion was under the orders of his master Cazador, he was forced to bed Cazador’s prey to lure them to the hunter’s castle. And this way, the master had fresh blood, even though Astarion could only drink rodent blood.

But when deciding, you don’t know all this backstory and must decide what to do on the spot. You can tell Astarion that you respect his decision not to drink the blood of Araj Oblodra in Baldur’s Gate 3.

The alternative is to persuade Astarion to drink Araj Oblodra’s blood or, playing along with this performance that you put on, feign that he is in fact your property and force him to do it.

If you respect Astarion’s denial, you will increase his approval rating, and the repercussions will not be so severe. Araj Oblodra will tell you that you’re a weakling for listening to your minion.

On the other hand, if you try to convince Astarion to drink the blood of Araj Oblodra in Baldur’s Gate 3, he will say yes but raise your disapproval level. But well, you get an exclusive position that increases your strength x2 forever. By the way, when Astarion drinks the Araj Oblodra blood in Baldur’s Gate 3, he doesn’t like it; he comments that it tastes putrid and full of corruption. After having all this information in your hands, you decide.
