Sometimes, tragic circumstances can bring estranged families together. Sadly for Sister Wives fans, that doesn’t seem to be the case for the Browns. Sources close to the family are sharing an update on how they’re coping after Garrison Brown’s devastating death by suicide at just 25. Many have wondered how it’s been for the family to come together amid many rifts and heartbreaking circumstances. Now, we know it hasn’t been easy for anyone.
Kody Is Reportedly ‘In a Dark Place’
Sources close to the Brown family tell The Sun that Kody Brown is “in a dark place” following Garrison’s death.
“Kody is not okay at all. He’s retreated entirely,” one source told the outlet, noting that it was difficult for the Sister Wives patriarch to engage in “mingling” with his estranged family members during Garrison’s celebration of life late last month.
He gets into dark places when he gets upset, so he’s just in a very dark place right now. He’s really depressed.

Relationships Between the Husband/Father and His Family Members Continue to Be Strained
Reality fans have been rooting for some reconciliations in the Brown family, but the loss of Garrison has added another complex layer to their already complicated relationships. When it comes to Kody connecting with anybody right now, it seems unlikely he’s in a peaceful place. Similarly, his remaining estranged children agree that the time isn’t right to try to fix things.
At this point, Kody’s boys and other kids are not going to be receptive to him now because they just lost a family member. It’s going to take even more work for Kody to fix the damage he’s done. [And] he’s not even thinking about chances of reconciliation since he’s still processing Garrison’s death and grieving his loss.

There’s no telling how long it will take any member of the Brown family to feel like they’re in a place of peace and acceptance after this unimaginable loss. As a result, it’s hard to imagine when they’ll come together again as they did for Garrison.
As for Kody, his only remaining romantic relationship is with Robyn Brown. That relationship is also experiencing strain due to his complex emotional state right now.
His mental state is affecting his marriage and it’s actually causing problems in his relationship. He sort of put up this wall and is internalizing his feelings. He’s focused more on himself and moving on … Kody just retreats and when he gets upset, he blames her [for his problems.] So right now he’s doing that with her.

Of course, that’s difficult for Robyn to balance as she continues to raise their two minor children, ages 8 and 13. That said, the source didn’t believe divorce was on the horizon for the couple — who were part of a polygamist relationship with Janelle Brown, Christine Brown, and Meri Brown — “unless he continues what he is doing and pushes her out.”
