Racism isn’t exactly a new thing when it comes to America, but sometimes it can take a whole new level. From being verbal, some racist cases might turn physical. An example is that of a Black man in Indiana who was attacked by a group of White bikers at a pub. They accused him of not paying his tab and refusing to pay it. The man, however, said that he wasn’t broke and that he would pay his tab. This wasn’t satisfying enough for the group of thugs. You can see how they are surrounding the guy who is wearing a safety vest.
In the widely shared video, the group starts calling their victim with racial slurs including the n-word. They gather around him while arguing with him about the unpaid tab. When the guy tries to leave, one holds him and says, “You are paying your tab, motherf**ker.” Suddenly, the confrontation turns physical as one of the bikers punches the Black man before the entire group starts attacking him. They take his vest off and viciously throw one hit after another. One even lifts a chair to hit him with. The crowd at the pub is left in chaos, but they are encouraging what is happening. You can even hear someone in the background saying, “Beat that motherf**ker.”
The attack keeps getting worse because, at one point, you can’t even see the guy due to how all of them are on top of him. When you do see him, they have him in a chokehold as two of them punch and kick his face. Because of the video, people gathered later outside the bar in protest against the racism that took place.
More Details About What Happened
Following the attack, WANE 15 went to the pub to speak with the owner, Kelley Rost, whose response was, “There are two sides to every story.” As if there is anything that would justify this vicious attack. The backlash, however, was immediate, and it forced the bar to delete its Facebook and Instagram pages. The bar was also closed with no information about when it will reopen. Good.
After the police arrived at the scene, the victim told them that he “did not want to provide information on the individuals responsible for his injuries.” He was then taken to a hospital to treat his injuries. In addition to this, this isn’t the first criminal activity the group of White thugs were accused of. The publication reported that the group called The Outlaws Motorcycle Club had previously been involved in a federal case in 2013. WANE 15 detailed the event by saying that the case was “where a member of the Fort Wayne Chapter ‘engaged in extortion and the distribution of prescription drugs,’ in the role of operation with the Outlaws Club.”
People Reacting to the Indiana Attack
Immediately, people came after the thugs involved in the situation. One person wrote, “These are actual gang members.” Another replied that he had a coworker who was part of the bikers’ club. “Outlaws is a strictly white Harley club (gang) I have a coworker who is one. Not the best person but man he can weld. Regardless, these people are racist shitbags who fight at the slightest disagreement. Said coworker has fought 3 people over the dumbest shit so far, very surprised he isn’t fired but it’s probably because he is our best welder,” they wrote.
While most people came after the group of thugs, some criticized the victim for being there in the first place. “As a black person, that’s not the kind of place you want to be,” one person said. Someone else noticed how the Trump sign at the pub should have been enough to warn the guy not to go in there. “The Trump sign alone was enough, much less the a**hole Outlaw bikers. Dude didn’t deserve it, but that’s why I don’t even personally go into any place with anything Trump hanging,” they wrote.
Others agreed that the Indiana bar didn’t exactly look like the safest place. One Redditor even said, “That bar looks like my idea of hell.” While there is nothing to excuse racism, the victim should have noticed how hostile the place in Indiana was against Black people. I just hope that he would be okay and decide to press charges.
