Sofia Vergara has sparked backlash on Instagram as she models her Walmart-retailed jeans. The sitcom star, 52, turned heads last week in a figure-hugging look, posing in her affordable merchandise while plugging her Sofia by Sofia Vergara Jeans.
Fans, who have been following the ICE deportations, quickly slammed the Modern Family star, accusing her of staying silent on the matter and not speaking out as a Latina woman. Sofia, who is Colombian-born, was told that she wasn’t “supporting” her community and that “now is not the time” to be promoting her brand. Vergara launched her denim and clothing collections with Walmart back in 2019 and has since founded her Toty sunscreen and Dio Mios coffee brands.
Sofia Vergara Shows Off Her New Jeans On Instagram
Looking like a total bombshell as she ditched her swim looks and red carpet gowns, Sofia opted for casual chic while posing in a high-waisted, wide-legged pair of jeans with a folded-up hem at the ankles.
Placing her hands on a nearby velour couch, the sitcom star angled her backside outward a little, accentuating her hourglass physique while showing off her curvy waistline. Adding a short-sleeved black top and stiletto mules, Sofia nailed her look, sporting her hair down and posing with her quilted black leather jacket on the couch.
Shooting the camera a direct gaze as she oozed confidence, Sofia offered no caption other than the Walmart Instagram handle and a #sofiavergarajeans.
‘Now Is Not The Time’
While the post earned over 160,000 likes, it also landed Sofia plenty of criticism. “Now is not the time to be promoting your products that are sold in Walmart and purchased by most likely immigrants,” one fan replied.
Over 25 fans agreed when another user asked the actress “how” she is “supporting” her community. Responding to this, a further fan quipped: “She loves Miami and golfing with Trump.”
Thinking that Sofia is living in la-la land and actively avoiding addressing what’s going on in America right now, one user said: “Go support your community. Or did you forget your “roots” too American now.” Sofia has always spoken proudly of being a Latin woman. She has not, however, opened up on the deportations, something that fellow actress Eva Longoria has.
Modern Family ended in 2020. Sofia has since joined America’s Got Talent as a judge. In 2023, she launched her Toty sunscreen brand, with her DIos Mio coffee one coming one year later.
