Steam Link, Valve’s latest game streaming bet is now available for pre-order on the Steam platform.

After the introduction of game streaming on the Steam platform, allowing games to be played on lower systems, Valve is releasing a nifty piece of hardware that hooks up to your TV and home network and allows your game library to be playedย on the living room television.

Steam Link
Steam Link-linking your Steam library to your living room TV

This comes as an alternative to the Steam Machines, in case you already own a gaming computer and have no need for a new 500$-1000$ game system. The Steam Link achieves the same purpose as the Steam Machines–to play your steam library on the living room without carrying your heavy system around.

The use of Steam Link will require aย host computer running SteamOS, or Steam Big Picture Mode on Windows Vista or newer, Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) or newer, Linux Ubuntu 12.04 or newerย and aย TV or display capable of running at 720p or 1080p resolution. It can Streamย atย 1080p runningย 60 FPS via an HDMI output.

According to Valve,ย virtually every game that your PC runs can be played over Steam Link.
