You’re sure this isn’t a boss?

The Persona franchise has a habit of tossing in regular enemies as tough as some bosses. Steel Gigas is one of those, posing a serious challenge when you start exploring Tartarus. Although it’s capable of pummeling your party into submission if you aren’t careful, you can beat Steel Gigas if you know how to exploit its elemental weakness. That means using the right selection of characters, Personas, and attacks, but it’s not difficult in practice. Here’s what you need to know about how to beat Steel Gigas in Persona 3: Reload.

Steel Gigas has one major weakness in Persona 3: Reload, and that’s Electric damage. Attacks with that elemental type do increased damage to Steel Gigas and can down it. Once downed, this enemy takes increased damage and cannot evade your attacks. That makes downing Steel Gigas not just one of the best ways to defeat it but also one of the best ways to spare your party members from harm. Downing Steel Gigas will also grant you an additional turn in the form of One More, allowing you to pile on the damage while your foe is vulnerable. Take advantage and press the attack.

Unlike some other enemies, Steel Gigas focuses on physical attacks above all else. That means you won’t need to protect yourself from a slew of incoming elemental damage. Instead, prioritize bringing characters that are most capable of dealing consistent Electric damage. Akihiko is your best bet for consistent DPS, and your other characters can take more of a supporting role during the fight, lending a hand with attacks when possible.

The All-Out Attack Advantage

In Persona 3: Reload, downing every enemy allows your party to launch a devastating All-Out Attack. Since Steel Gigas fights alone, you’ll effectively be able to use All-Out Attack every time you down it. Use the Zio spell to down Steel Gigas before following up with an All-Out Attack, and you’ll chew through its impressive health pool in no time. Although it’s a simple strategy, spamming Zio and following up with an All-Out Attack is arguably the best way to approach the Steel Gigas fight. Just make sure you’re ready to heal your party members if Steel Gigas gets a lucky shot in and downs someone. To summarize, here’s what you need to do:

  • Use Zio and other Electric attacks
  • Follow up with All-Out Attacks while Steel Gigas is down
  • Prioritize Akihiko and use other party members for support
  • Heal and buff as necessary

Persona 3: Reload is available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
