This past year, Nintendo has really shown consumers that they are ready to start competing with the current console generations with the new Switch and making content for mobile devices. In September of last year, Nintendo announced their first mobile game, Super Mario Run, at Apple’s iPhone event. Unfortunately for Android users everywhere, the game would be seriously delayed for those without iPhones by about 3 months. Nintendo announced earlier today that Super Marion Run will be available in the Google Play Store on March 23rd.

Nintendo’s mobile Mario game is a platformer built with the use of a touch screen in mind. The game is super reminiscent of the older Mario games that feature larger worlds with smaller levels within them. Players can choose between Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and a few other fan favorites to traverse the levels collecting gold and pink coins. Overall, the game offers 24 levels in its World Tour Mode that you can play numerous times to get different colored coins. You can also play against other runners in the Toad Rally mode and build your own castle in the Kingdom Builder Mode. The app is offered two different ways. The free version only has the first three levels while the paid version has all of the features mentioned above.

Along with the Android release, customers playing Super Mario Run on Apple products can expect an update for the 2.0.0 version of the game. The update will add some new playable characters to the mobile game. It will also include an opportunity for those with the free version of the app to open up Worlds 1 through 4 after completing a Bowser challenge.

Super Mario Run was released on Apple products, like iPhones and iPads, in December of last year. Nintendo didn’t announce until almost a month after this that the mobile game would also be available on Android devices.
