Will you be at the Summer Olympics in Japan later this year? Need to kill some time other than watching the best athletes in the world? Super Nintendo World demands your attention. Construction of the theme park at Universal Studios Japan is set to release before the 2020 Summer Olympics. In building hype theyโ€™ve released a music video trailer, take a look below.

The video includes recent details that have revealed Nintendoโ€™s number one goal, to make park goers feel like they are completely in on the experience. Where does the theme park end and guests begin? Their new brand slogan is โ€œNo Limit!โ€ This applies toโ€ฆ Yup, you guessed it! Real-life Mario Kart! Thierry Coup from Universal is calling it, โ€œa life-size, living video game.โ€ To accomplish this, Universal & Nintendo will be looking beyond just themed rides.

Super Nintendo World will feature will come with smart themed wristbands. According to reporter Kurumi Mori, theyโ€™re called โ€œPower Up Bands.โ€ They sync to a smartphone app and track activities. Park-goers will be able to collect digital coins and compete with others. The app will have an overhead map to find attractions. No word on what the digital coins are for, other than attempting to make siblings fight each other. It sounds like a real-life version of Mario Party, probably less aggressive though. The casualties otherwise would beโ€ฆ Insane.

All the news and presentation is huge. Despite all the information, we still donโ€™t have an exact opening date of Super Nintendo World. Itโ€™ll be interesting to see if the timetable before the Olympic games holds. I imagine if this park is anything like the Nintendo first-party games, the company is looking for near polished perfection before opening.

After Super Nintendo World Japan, Universal looks to open in California, Orlando, and Singapore for their next openings. No timetable on those though. For all other nerdy news including all things Nintendo, check out the rest of The Nerd Stash!
