Tales of Arise has had a long journey to get to this point. Announced in 2019, the 17th Tales game since the series debuted in 1995 saw a number of delays – the most recent of which was, as with so many projects around the world recently, down to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that has been disrupting everything throughout 2020 and 2021. Tales of Arise has been silent for a while, but earlier today, Bandai Namco released a new trailer that reminded us all that the game is still coming.

The new cinematic trailer not only revealed more details and footage from the upcoming JRPG but also hints in the description that we won’t be waiting too long for our next piece of news regarding Tales of Arise.

Spring is just around the corner, and weโ€™ve been working hard to make it unforgettable. Catch the first new glimpse from Tales of Arise.โ€

The story of Arise focuses on two protagonists, Alphen and Shionne, each from different planets on opposite sides of an interplanetary war. The gameplay has undergone some alterations from the classic Tales formula, but largely retains the familiar battle system that fans have become used to.

The last game in the Tales series, Tales of Berseria released back in 2017, but between now and then there have been things going on that would be of note to fans of the series. Tales of Verseria recently made its way, like so many games before it, to Xbox Game Pass; Another Eden, a free-to-play mobile JRPG had a crossover with the Tales series for the latter’s 25th anniversary and featured appearances from some of the popular characters in the series, such as Cress Albane, Yuri Lowell, Milla Maxwell, and Velvet Crowe. Bandai Namco also released a short animation for Tales of Crestoria, a new mobile game in the series.

Do you remain hopeful that we’ll see Tales of Arise come out this year? Will it live up to fans’ expectations? Leave a comment with your thoughts below.
