Taylor Swift‘s fans are coming to her rescue after a resurfaced clip is associating her with Diddy‘s scandal. The rapper’s arrest resulted in a major upheaval in Hollywood, causing all his connections to be scrutinized. Unfortunately, it seem Swift was one of his many admirers before his dirty linen aired more than a decade later.
A resurfaced 2011 video showed the Shake It Up singer gushing over the disgraced music mogul in an interview. She confessed during an appearance on the Rachael Ray Show. Swift, who was just 21 at the time, played a celebrity quiz gameย where she answered rapid-fire questions. When asked who she would have taken to prom, Swift answered, “It would be a group, and it would be a really fun group.” Ray then responded, “Boy, you’re going on a freaky prom date,” causing the singer to reveal her choices. She held up picture cards of Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, Sheryl Crow, Jennifer Lopez, and Diddy. While explaining the reason behind her decision, Swift said of the rapper:
“Diddy’s really always been very nice to me. He would be fun to be in the prom group.”
Ray seemed to agree as she added, “He’s a gentleman, isn’t he? He’s a lovely gentleman.”

Given that Diddy was arrested on sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution charges, Swift’s remark raised eyebrows. However, Swifties came to her defense, arguing that their idol was too young to have known about Diddy’s alleged evil ways.
“I donโt love having to defend her lmao but I mean this was literally like 15 years ago,” wrote one fan. “Possible she didn’t know what a POS he was back then.”
“Of course he was always nice and respectful to her. She is and has always been a very protected and powerful yt woman,” a second fan argued on Reddit. “Diddy is a monster but also not stupid. He would’ve never showed his true side to her. This post takes away attention from the people who he has actually harmed.”
“Meh, I doubt she had a clue about his behavior when she said this, and I doubt Rachael Ray did either,” a third follower declared.
Swift’s throwback clip comes just days after her BFF Selena Gomez was also implicated after a Diddy slip-up. Will anyone be spared from the stain of Diddy’s crimes?
