Taylor Swift recently celebrated her 35th birthday. In honor of the special day, the singer released some behind-the-scenes footage of her Bejeweled music video. The footage was filmed back in 2022 and featured a scene of Swift holding her phone. When zoomed in, it was clear that the background of her phone was a photo of herself with her then-boyfriend, Joe Alwyn. Fans quickly noticed this and the photo began to circulate around the internet, causing an invasion of privacy for the Grammy winner.
According to Life and Style Magazine, after realizing that a personal and private photo of herself with Joe Alwyn made it into the cut, Taylor Swift opted to go back in and blur out the picture. During her relationship Alwyn, the singer was famously private and secretive about the years-long romance. The duo later split in early 2023. A few months later, Taylor began dating her current boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
“She was so fed up,” one person wrote via Twitter.
“Why are they making a big deal about a wall paper of 2 years ago? There was nothing wrong with it at all!” another stated.
“I feel bad she even had to do that. People need to let her past be the past,” a third fan commented.
“This is so sad. She literally is over him. She has someone in her life right now. For ‘fans’ to be talking about something that happened in the past, with small details like this, is very disrespectful to her personal life,” a fourth person commented.
Taylor Swift Erases Joe Alwyn From The Internet
In April 2024, Swift released her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department. Of course, several of the tracks are thought to be about her romance with Alwyn. Songs such as So Long London seem to hint to her breakup with the British actor. Other songs on the album appear to reference Swift’s rebound romance with The 1975 singer Matty Healy and her current relationship with Travis Kelce.
Swift has never fully dived into her split with Alwyn in public. However, after years of being very quiet and mysterious about her love life, fans are now seeing a new side of the singer. Since she began dating Kelce, she’s been spotted showing off PDA with the Super Bowl Champ. She’s also openly spoken out about him in very public settings such as award shows and interviews.
Over the past year and a half, fans have seen Taylor let loose. She no longer seems to care if people see her out on the town with her man. Instead, she appears to enjoy having the freedom to be herself despite her mega fame.
As for blurring the photo of herself and Joe Alwyn, it seems that she may have done that for his sake. It was also thought that Alwyn was the one who wanted to keep their relationship under wraps. He never seemed comfortable with all of the fame. So, after seeing the buzz surrounding the photo, it’s possible that Taylor Swift opted to show her ex-boyfriend a little respect and blur the old photo of the couple looking loved up.
