Sometimes we cross paths with other people in the most unexpected way. Life has a funny way of bringing people together through invisible ties. One Tennessee man found himself in such a situation. After purchasing a new house, the man and his wife found that the family that lived there before them left writing on the inside of two cabinets. The story doesn’t end here since TikTok’s algorithm played a role in making the original family find the video and comment on it as they reminisced about their childhood.

My wife and I purchased a house last year and found this hidden away and decided not to paint over it. Maybe one day we’ll let our own daughter sign it 😊

The Tennessee man posted a video of him opening the cabinets and showing the writings on them. He wrote in the caption that he and his wife found this after purchasing the house last year. The heartwarming part of this is that they are planning to keep the writings and not paint over them. They even plan to let their daughter write on the cabinets in the future too.

In the first cabinet, you can see words such as “BFF” along with the names of the children who used to write there. Another part has “Finally graduated high school (early) hehe” written on it. Then there are some names such as Megan, Erin, and Lis. The Tennessee man then zooms in on a part where “We don’t fit anymore” is written.

He then proceeds to open the second cabinet where there are writings all over it too. You can see a small heart drawn with a red marker. Another part has “We look like tuna in a can” written. The “We no longer fit” phrase is written again on the second cabinet.

The Original Family Responding to the Tennessee Man

The heartwarming part doesn’t stop at the video, but it keeps going in the comments. The video got popular enough that it reached the original family who lived there before. Erin, whose name is written on the cabinets, wrote a comment under the video saying:

“Wow TikTok is crazy! This has brought tears to my eyes this morning, this was my grandparents old house. Me and my cousin wrote in those cabinets for years. Thank you so much for this. I would love to see what you all have done with the house!”

Erin then shared in the replies that the house was sold after her grandparents passed away. “Means so much someone recognized those memories made!” she wrote. She also talked about how old she and her cousin are now. “32 and 34 now! Wonderful memories as kids. My kids ended up playing in those cabinets because my grandparents passing. Full circle.”

The comments weren’t the only thing Erin shared, as she also posted a slideshow on her account. In the slideshow, you can see pictures of their family. One picture even shows the two cousins’ kids inside the cupboards as well. In another video, Erin posted a picture of her and her cousin Megan where they were inside the cabinets. This was before the cabinets were covered with writing. Another member of the family found the Tennessee man’s video as well. She wrote:

“Well you found the originals. That was my mom and dad’s house. It was my daughter and niece that spent all that time in those cabinets. Thanks for sharing”

People Reacting to the Video

The Tennessee man’s video and the comments left by the family were heartwarming to many. People started sharing their own comments and stories. One person wrote, “It’s the way they didn’t fit in 2007 but they still came back in 2008 to write that they graduated.” Another wrote with crying emojis, “They were around 17 and were still playing in the cabinets.”

Another TikTok user wrote, “The fact this video found its way to the kids who wrote all those messages. This is why we need TikTok.” Someone even thanked the Tennessee man for not painting the cabinets. “For all us kiddos in the world,” they wrote. Such an emotional video shows you how TikTok has the power to bring people together in unexpected ways and at unexpected times.
