Tennessee Woman Shares ‘Insane’ Story of How Her Housekeeper Tormented Her: ‘This Is Wild’

They really did this?

Identity theft is a crime that some may not pay close attention to. However, for this Tennessee woman, it plays a major role in her own life. Kelsey Byron is a Tennessee native who recently posted a now-viral TikTok to her account explaining that her cleaning lady had stolen her identity. Byron’s experience left her extremely shocked. However, this strange situation could have anyone feeling that way in the end.

According to The Mary Sue, this all started when the woman decided to send out a post in her city’s “girls group” on Facebook. This led to a recommendation for a housekeeper. Kelsey Byron would then hire the maid service, and everything was fine, for a time. The woman that Kesley hired was even around her age, and was said to be very friendly. Shortly after being hired, Byron would request the woman to do a move-out clean. When the group set up the open house, the housekeeper even invited her sister to help out.

However, one of Kelsey’s friends pointed out to the family that it looked like the housekeeper’s sister wasn’t really cleaning anything at all. Instead, she was talking to friends and her sister. After that, Kelsey seemed to decide it was time for a new cleaning service. Byron most likely would prefer a housekeeper who actually cleans her house.

Tennessee Woman Gets Her Identity Stolen by Housekeeper

After moving on from the housekeeper, Kelsey’s family would go on vacation in Mexico, although while in the country, they would have a very strange encounter. Byron’s sister would get an “insane” phone call that was from someone claiming to have kidnapped Kelsey Byron. The call was a cry for help as a man spoke on the line. The mysterious man would demand that the family pay $1,500 for Byron’s release. Understandably scared in a foreign country, the family paid the “ransom.” TikTok commenters were shocked by this as they let their feelings be known. “This is wild,” writes one.

Months later, the Tennessee woman would continue to notice strange things in her daily life. Things like weird credit card bills or her credit score changing suddenly. To top it off, someone had applied for multiple credit cards in Byron’s name. Things got even more suspicious after a police officer called Kelsey. The officer would explain that the cleaning service that Byron had hired actually stole another family’s possessions after being hired to clean their home.

Kelsey Byron quickly put the jigsaw pieces together and came to the conclusion that the housekeeper had stolen her identity. They had also put Byron’s personal phone number down as the number for their services. Not only did they steal her identity, but they also framed her for the crimes as well. The Tennessee woman would later learn that her identity thief had passed away. However, so much damage had already been done. Ultimately, the internet can be a dangerous place, and this is a prime example as to why.
