Roblox has been at the center of various controversies for as long as its been available to play, and new ones seem to pop up every once in a while. Most recently, a lawsuit was raised that focused on safety measures taken to ensure the safety of the platform’s user base, primarily children. Now, a Texas content creator hoping to help dig out some of the bad on Roblox has taken it upon himself to try to stop bad actors and pedophiles from reaching kids. Unfortunately, it seems that Roblox itself doesn’t think this is the best publicity, as the user has now been permanently banned.
The video above details how a content creator, Schlep, who is well-known for being a Roblox YouTuber, decided to take it upon himself to try and make Roblox safer. In the time that he’s been doing this, he’s managed to assist in getting six pedophiles removed from the platform and arrested. In response to this, Roblox sent Schlep a cease and desist letter, asking him to stop his actions. More specifically, they are noting that the letter is due to the language he was using while attempting to capture these pedophiles, highlighting just how bad those chat rooms must have gotten.
Instead of acknowledging his efforts to remove several harmful users from their platform, Roblox simply wanted him to stop engaging with them. But really, that doesn’t solve anything. So, when Schlep responded with this, he was met with a permanent ban on his account, which prevented him from continuing his work. Various commenters were quick to question the gaming company’s actions, with one person going so far as saying, “maybe the CEO is one of them [photo].”
Of course, that statement takes things a little too far, though the sentiment shines through very clearly. Why is it that Roblox can even allow conversations like these to happen? How many people has Roblox sent to jail for their actions? We will likely never have answers to those questions, but just the thought of the possibilities is jaw-dropping.
