Texas Pastor Cheers as School Hits Lowest Vaccination Rate: ‘This Country Is Sick’

Although many may think that being vaccinated is a good thing, that’s not the case for one Texas pastor. Landon Schott is a Fort Worth pastor who works at Mercy Culture Preparatory Academy. Recently, he shared an Instagram video boasting about his school’s recent achievement. Is it a student winning a competition? No, that’s too common and boring. What he’s so happy about is the fact that his school became number one in having the least vaccinated students.

The other faculty members aren’t very pleased about the news, but Texan Pastor Schott feels very differently. According to him, this stat shows that the Mercy Culture Preparatory students and parents don’t allow the government and other scientific institutions to control their lives. “I know the entire world was shut down with insanity, and people were fired from their jobs for forced vaccinations, and freedom is something we take seriously,” Schott said.

While freedom is important, one should also pay attention to the serious issue of a measles outbreak reported in West Texas. Mercy Culture Prep has the lowest MMR vaccination rate in Texas, at just 14.29%. In contrast, the majority of North Texas schools and districts have vaccination rates over 75%, with some even reaching 90%.

Voices of Reason

While Schott’s post received over 1,700 likes, many people criticized his celebration in the comments. Some Christians rebuked the Texas pastor, saying that this wasn’t a good thing for anyone. “This is a disgrace to the name of Christ. Jesus loves the children, and advocating for them to be exposed to preventable sickness and death defies every tenet of Jesus loving the little children. Please, please reconsider this,” one person replied under the Instagram post.

Some even poked fun at the Texas pastor’s attitude by sharing dark jokes. “I see why he’s so excited. Child funerals must be a lucrative business for a pastor,” one person commented. “Let’s see how this ages…” another said.

While Schott’s post drew great attention on Instagram, a Redditor also shared it on the social media platform, drawing even more attention to the Texas pastor. The reaction was equally negative, with many condemning this inappropriate attitude toward vaccination.

“This country is sick,” one Redditor said. Others, however, poked fun at the school name, saying that it’s very ironic considering the situation. “Mercy Culture for a name is quite a choice for a man who has no mercy and no culture,” another Redditor commented.
