Guy Reffitt, a Trump supporter from Texas, might not serve his complete seven-year sentence, as President Donald Trump has granted pardons for hundreds of the rioters who stormed the Capitol on January 6th, 2021. The offenders who were detained will be able to be reunited with their loved ones. However, not everyone is happy with Trump’s decision, specifically someone who’s responsible for turning in their own father to the FBI, Jackson Reffitt.

Speaking to CNN in an interview, Jackson, son of the charged Trump supporter and rioter Guy Reffitt, told a news anchor that he feels both “flabbergasted” and “terrified” of the situation. Even though he’s moved away from his home and even bought a gun for his own safety, he’s at a loss of what to do due to Trump’s decision to pardon the January 6th criminals.

The thought of Jackson Reffitt’s dad or others “who feel so validated by the pardon” finding and possibly harming him is indeed frightening. Since his time in prison, Guy Reffitt has become “more galvanized than ever,” feeling no remorse for what he did at the Capitol building four years ago. “My dad once called me a traitor,” Jackson says worriedly, “and he said traitors get shot.”

Being threatened in such a way by your own father surely must have been traumatizing for the Trump supporter’s son. And now, knowing that that same dad and other resentful people could possibly be hunting you for your choice back in 2021 probably makes it hard to sleep at night. “I can’t feel safe,” laments Jackson, “[Who knows] what could happen when they’re released,” referring to those detained for their actions on the 6th.

Jackson Reffitt believes that he isn’t the only person who is concerned about the possible release of the rioters after Trump’s pardoning. He’s “sure that hundreds of other families [and] thousands of other people that have been affected by these people and their actions” no longer feel safe. Needless to say, it’s only natural he feels this way, as his mother threw him under the bus for what he did to his father.
