This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information.

The release date for The Last of Us: Part 2 may have recently been leaked. According to VG247, Swiss retailer Softridge listed the game for a release date of February 28, 2020. This would fall in line with the rumored February 2020 release. However, the article is quick to point out that it “could also be a placeholder.”

Supposedly there was also ” placeholder images of a Collectorโ€™s Edition and Special Edition.” You can see the thread from resetera here. The listing was taken down but has reappeared since. Could there be some truth to this? Maybe, may not. But we will likely have a clearer picture at Sony’s State of Play on September 24.

The History of The Last of Us: Part 2

First announced at 2016’s PlayStation Experience, we were treated to a cinematic trailer of The Last of Us: Part 2 that takes place five years after the events of The Last of Us. With a beautiful performance of Shawn James’ Through the Valley, the trailer set up the bitter tone for the sequel.

The Last of Us: Part 2

Since that announcement, we have had very little to look at. With some more trailers featuring limited story beats and a minimal demonstration of gameplay Sony’s 2018, even that was intriguing enough to keep fans in their seats. The marketing strategy for The Last of Us: Part 2 has been a real tease fan as they are drip-fed content. But, it is working extremely well. We are certainly not burned out and grab at every new scrap of info like a rabid beast.

Now, with the State of Play coming up, we are about to start a new chapter in the game’s hype train. What will we see? Surely it’s time to learn more about the story. And what about gameplay? Will it be familiar with new features? But most importantly, will we get a release date? I guess we’ll have to wait until Tuesday to see.

Looking forward to The Last of Us: Part 2? Love the original? Let us know in the comments!
