The Outer Worlds, the space-faring RPG from the creators of Fallout: New Vegas, is coming to the Nintendo Switch. Publisher Private Division announced that it will release for the Switch on March 6.

In The Outer Worlds, you play as a newly revived space colonist in the Halcyon system. Private corporations control each of the planets, and it is up to you to either fight for the people or join the corporate heads.

Citizens of Halcyon! We are proud to announce that we're extending the universe of #TheOuterWorlds to Nintendo Switch on March 6th.

First released in October 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, The Outer Worlds gained acclaim for bringing back the Fallout-style western RPG that has been sorely missed.

Not only does the game work well on console, but an added benefit of the Nintendo Switch version of The Outer Worlds is the portability. The game is a shorter RPG with a ton of different ways to play, so having access to it anywhere is very enticing.

The Outer Worlds Physical Version Includes Full Game Download

The game will release as both a retail version and on the Nintendo eShop, but fans of physical copies will have some second thoughts. The physical version will not have the game included on a cart but will come with a code to download the game.

While other consoles have ample storage space, the Switch’s lack of internal memory either games must fit onto carts or force players to buy memory cards to fit larger games. For example, when massive RPG The Witcher 3 came to Switch, the game cart came with the full game.

At this point, we are not aware of how well The Outer Worlds will run on the Switch. Hopefully, an in-depth analysis will come out soon, so if you are on the fence, wait for that before pre-ordering.

Even though the download requirement does damper the excitement, The Outer Worlds is a refreshing and fun game for those waiting to take on the action on the go. Thankfully it will not be much longer, as the game will release on March 6 for $59.99.
