In The Sims 4, there are loads of fun things to do, including making a family, but sometimes you can’t have kids on your own, so you need to know how to adopt a child. Every once in a while, your Sim won’t be in the mood to have babies, you won’t want to have a relationship, or you might even want to preserve your Sim’s body. No matter the case, it’s always smart to know how to adopt a child if you need to. Luckily for you, we’ll explain exactly how to do just that. How to Adopt a Child in The Sims 4
When it comes to adopting a child in-game, there are a couple of different paths you can take. You can adopt a new child or adopt an existing child within your world. In order to adopt a child, you must have a Sim that it at least a Young Adult, but an older Sim can adopt children too, just not Younger Sims. Let’s take a look at how to adopt a new child below:
How to Adopt a New Child
In order to adopt a new child within the game, you will have to call the Adoption Agency. This can easily be done right in your Sim’s home.
Navigate to the phone icon on the bottom left-hand corner of your screen.
From there, choose the “Call Adoption Agency” option.
Now, choose the child you wish to adopt. You can choose any of the children on the list, but keep in mind that the adoption will cost you 1,000 Simoleons. From this point, you will leave the house and come home a few hours later with your new child and a whole bunch of new responsibilities.
How to Adopt an Existing Child
Thanks to the new Infants update, we are now able to adopt existing Sim children. If you find a partner for your Sim and eventually marry them, you can actually adopt their children if they are not already your biological children.
Once you’ve built a relationship with the child, you can interact with them by choosing the Small Talk option, then choosing the Adopt option.
