The upcoming Hitman game, World of Assassination, is having its release date delayed by a few months into 2025. The PlayStation VR2 game was originally scheduled for a December release, but the developer wanted more time to polish the experience before putting it into playersโ€™ hands.

According to the PlayStation blog post that announced the delay, the new release date of Hitman World of Assassination is March 27, 2025. According to IO Interactive, the decision to delay the VR game was not made lightly, and the developers are proud of the reaction the game has garnered.

The extra development time will allow IO Interactive to not only polish the game further and make it as refined as possible, but also to include some extras that the developer considers important, like active reloading.

Hitman World of Assassination was originally announced in September of this year for the PlayStation VR2. It comes with dual-wielding and a plethora of other interactions including using both controllers at the same time for different things, active reloading, on-body weapon holstering, aiming through a sniperโ€™s scope properly, and other manual actions like stealing a downed enemyโ€™s disguise, in typical Agent 47 fashion.

The upcoming game will have improved VR support like room-scale implementation, spatial interactions to manipulate in-game objects, support for the PlayStation adaptive triggers, and much more. Hopefully, this delay will result in the game being in a better state when it comes out in March.

IO Interactive has recently created a third-party publishing division called IOI Partners and has signed on to its first game called MindsEye, which is the first AAA game being developed by Build a Rocket Boy, the company created by the ex-GTA producer Leslie Benzies. IO Interactive is also working on a new James Bond game, but all we know about it so far is that the development is going well.
