  • Pal Spheres Need To Be Collectable
  • Fixing the Problem

After hours of grinding you build a Legendary Sphere and are ready to catch your dream Pal, but then it happens. Instead of pressing “E” to summon your Foxparks, you accidentally press “Q” and throw your Legendary Sphere away. Even though you just threw it on the ground a few feet from you, it’s gone forever, because Palworld won’t let you pick up Pal Spheres you’ve tossed. It might as well have been eaten by Galactus. Every Palworld player I know has done this at least once, and most of us have done this dozens if not hundreds of times. Pocketpair, the madness needs to end.

Pal Spheres need to be collectible in Palworld. The default keybinds are easy to forget, and a simple misclick causes you to throw away whatever you’re holding. If you’re in the mid- to late-game and have hundreds of Pal Spheres in your pocket, that’s not a huge deal, but there are two instances in which it’s a massive annoyance. The first is when you’ve just started a new save, especially as a first-time player. You build a Primitive Workbench and harvest enough Wood, Stone, and Paldium Fragments to craft your first Pal Sphere. Then you misclick, and it’s gone.

In the second, even more annoying scenario, you’ve finally gotten your hands on a Hyper, Ultra, or Legendary Sphere, only to watch it vanish in an instant, spoiling your chance of catching whatever rare Pal you had your eyes on. I wouldn’t complain if you had to physically collect tossed Pal Spheres, requiring to you hike into a canyon or dive into the sea if that’s where you threw them. At least then you’d get your resources back, and it would feel fair. Losing a Sphere (or four) because you forget your keybinds in the heat of battle or while otherwise distracted doesn’t feel right. Fixing this issue would be a game-changer for players.

Fixing the Problem

It’s already possible to find random Pal Spheres scattered around the Palpagos Islands in Palworld. Coding tossed Spheres to remain on the ground should be possible, in theory. If there’s some issue with that, Pocketpair should at least make misfired Spheres return to your inventory after disappearing. Of course, making Pal Spheres recoverable might screw up the crafting economy a bit. I don’t care. I’d rather see the devs tinker with the Paldium Fragment, Ingot, and Cement requirements than spend one more second screaming into the wilderness because my careless self just chucked my last Legendary into a bush.

Palworld is available for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in early access.
