Too Hot To Handle: Why Brittan Byrd and James Pendergrass Are Getting Back Together

Genuine love and chemistry usually take time. So viewers were surprised by the instant connection shared by Too Hot To Handle stars Brittan Byrd and James Pendergrass on Too Hot To Handle season 4. The pair left the viewers in awe by keeping a clean slate throughout their stay at Lana’s famous retreat, while other couples broke the rules like glass plates. However, much of the discipline came from James, who also became fixated on ensuring that they didn’t waste the group’s money. For all their good work, James’ overzealousness nearly broke the relationship as Brittan began to welcome the advances of newcomer Ethan Smith. 

At first, James felt betrayed, but he quickly recognized his faults and apologized to Brittan for not focusing on the right prize — her! The lovebirds sealed the emotionally charged moment with their first kiss, much to the delight of their fans. Unfortunately, despite being fans’ favorites, the couple did not make it to the final — with Jawahir Khalifa and Nick Kici walking away with the $89,000 prize money. Brittan and James may have missed out on the prize, but they became overwhelmed by the media’s and fans’ attention. At the end of filming, the couple felt it was best to take some time apart to clear their heads. 

Brittan and James Broke Up After Too Hot To Handle Season 4

Brittan and James made believers of many viewers of season 4 of Too Hot To Handle with their genuine connection and unforced display of love. However, the couple decided to take a break shortly after filming season 4 of the popular Netflix reality TV series and returning to their homes in Hawaii. Brittan revealed in a tell-all clip that they needed the time apart to understand honestly what they felt for each other. Despite the breakup, the Too Hot To Handle stars remained close friends and left fans confused on several occasions with their flirtatious social media activities. 

Even though the pair remained tight-lipped about the status of their relationship, they were never shy about professing their attraction to each other — such as James commenting that he “NEED[S] that girl on the last slide” in a compilation post of the ladies shared on Netflix’s official Too Hot To Handle Instagram account. Brittan has chipped in with some suggestive comments on several of James’ Instagram posts. 

Distance Reunited Brittan and James

Even though the couple showed that they were on good terms with their social media activities, distance always proved to be a barrier to them building a romantic relationship. However, when James moved to Los Angeles and inadvertently closer to Brittan, everything changed for the better. Since they were in the same city and still had sparks flying between them, the lovebirds decided to try again. While speaking to Still Watching Netflix on December 28,  James admitted they had seen each other much more since moving to the same city, which helped things progress positively.

Brittan confirmed that they were in the “dating phase.” A lot has been said about the lack of continuity of most of the relationships produced by Too Hot To Handle since it first aired in 2020. However, while most of the couples of season 4 seem to follow this pattern, Brittan and James look destined for something more.
