Esports games is a constantly evolving sport, per se. More and more teams are joining the competitive scene every year and it’s become a powerful outlet for players to find a seat with a professional team. We’re getting new tournaments every year, new genres and games, and new challenges for the teams as well! It’s all fun and games when you’re a spectator, but it’s not so simple when you’re in the hot seat.

Nevertheless, most of us will never become professional gamers so we should enjoy the show as is. The 2018 Esports competitive season is almost over but we’re already looking forward to 2019 because, oh boy; are there going to be some explosive tournaments.

Here are the 5 Esports games you should definitely keep an eye out if and when a tournament appears!

Overwatch

The first entry on our list is Overwatch. Although the game is relatively new to Esports, it is slowly becoming one of the largest. People have grown a bit tired of the MOBA genre (but this doesn’t mean MOBAs are on the way out) so it’s only natural that Overwatch becomes one of the favorites.

It’s worth noting that Overwatch holds a vast array of tournaments every year such as the Overwatch World Cup, Overwatch League, Overwatch Contenders, and many others. The number of tournaments is still a bit behind other Esports games but it still deserves a spot on our list.

Fortnite

How about this little piece of trivia: Fortnite’s first competitive season hosted four premier events – Fortnite Summer Skirmish, Fortnite Fall Skirmish, Winter Royale: Europe Finals, and Winter Royale: North America Finals.

This is an insane number of premier-tier tournaments hosted for a game that has been relevant in the Esports scene for just a single year. If that doesn’t scream ‘We want to be the best!’ by Epic Games then we don’t know what does. Fortnite is the fastest growing game at the moment with Epic Games solidifying this fact by virtue of a massive prize pool for next year (a staggering $100,000,000!).

Dota 2

Dota 2 became League of Legends’ biggest rival when the two entered the Esports scene almost 10 years ago. It is still one of the most popular games out there and one that will never fall out of favor. It has fallen behind slightly due to CS:GOs increased involvement in the scene though.

In any case, who would want to miss these gems of Esports: ESL One Katowice, ESL One Birmingham, EPICENTER XL, and especially the International. These are the crown jewel tournaments of Dota 2 and we whole-heartedly recommend you tune in for 2019!

League of Legends

League of Legends has been the ‘staple’ Esports game for quite some time now. This game can boast about their competitive scene for days. Riot Games have made a massive effort over the years and it all came back positive for them.

EU LCS, NA LCS, LCK, LMS, LPL, World Championship – Seasonal leagues and the final tournament of the year. There’s constant action and you won’t get bored watching. The recent roster changes and format changes for the North American LCS will surely spice things up a bit. Hop in on a live stream and enjoy the show!

CS:GO

And we reach the end of our list. CS:GO has, since its inception, garnered a huge number of fans. As such, it has grown exponentially over the years and this piece of info about the 2018 Esports season should help you understand why it’s the most spectated game out there:

  • In 2018, the CS:GO competitive scene was filled with 24 premier-tier tournaments. Most of these had impressive prize pools and tight action due to participating teams (Astralis, FaZe, Na’Vi, Fnatic…)

No other game comes close and that’s why CS:GO deserves to be the one in first place. If you want high-octane, adrenaline-filled Esports action – you won’t find any better than CS:GO!
