Although your group tries to stop Solas from ripping down the veil, your interference accidentally releases two ancient elven gods into the world. Now that Solas is trapped inside the Fade, only your team has a chance to stop this looming threat. Unfortunately, the gods are cunning and powerful, and you must do your best to stop them from unleashing Blight on the world. While Dragon Age: The Veilguard is not very difficult, you can still use these tips and tricks to help you easily win many battles.

Pick the Right Faction and Class

First tip: pick the right faction and class in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a roleplaying game, so your decision regarding Faction and Class depends on your preference. However, if you don’t care about that aspect of your character, you can select your background based on the gameplay. My best tip is to select your Class based on your preferred fighting style.

  • Mage – The safest option since it’s much easier to dodge by keeping your distance. You can still get closer by using the dagger and orb weapons.
  • Warrior – This Class is more supportive but can still deal a ton of damage. You will need to be careful with the companions you pick.
  • Rogue – The best DPS character since you can deal a ton of damage early on. It’s very mobile, but you need to learn how to deflect properly.

Although the Faction you choose affects the story, it also gives certain buffs in the game. The trick is to pick the most suitable one based on your chosen Class.

  • Mage – Shadow Dragons, The Mourn Watch
  • Warrior – Grey Warden, Antivan Crows
  • Rogue – Veil Jumpers, Lords of Fortune

Open All Treasure Chest

This may sound like useless tips since you’ll definitely open all the treasure chests you find in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. However, you must understand that you can upgrade your gear by finding copies of the same item. Most of the equipment you will discover will have a common rarity. You can increase its rarity by finding the exact item inside a treasure chest.

One trick you can use in Dragon Age: The Veilguard is to pay attention to the chest icon underneath your mini-map. The game will make a ping sound whenever you are near one, so be sure to grab that chest. You can also check whether you’ve uncovered all the treasure chests in an area from the world map.

Bring Best Companions

Matching the right companion together is a useful trick in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Similar to picking your Faction and Class, you can choose your companions based on your taste. Even so, you need to be aware that some party members work better with others. Some have abilities that can be combined with others. While certain allies can provide better support for a specific Class. My best tip is to spend time reading their skills and how they interact with other allies.

Although there are no hard and fast rules regarding your companions, here are some of my suggestions:

  • Rogue – Harding with Neve
  • Mage – Davrin with Taash
  • Warrior – Bellara with Emmrich or Lucanis

Complete Side Quests and Companion Missions

My fourth Dragon Age: The Veilguard tip is to complete all side quests and companion missions. You will usually get a new batch of side quests after you recruit a new ally or unlock a new area. These optional missions are beneficial since they can increase your companion bond, give EXP, and boost the related Faction’s strength.

Companion missions are another important optional content you need to complete. These quests are usually more focused on story but you can earn a Keepsake. Each party member can equip these unique accessories to get certain stat boosts or buffs.

Be Careful With Your Choice

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a roleplaying game where your choices matter in some instances. Although many will only affect minor things, there are some major decisions that you have to make on your journey.

The first one you will encounter is when you need to decide between helping Minrathous or Treviso. This major choice will impact the story progression and your relationship with certain characters.

One trick that you can use to avoid making the wrong choice is by reading Dragon Age: The Veilguard guides. Of course, you may get some spoilers, but at least you won’t accidentally lock yourself out of a romance route.

If you don’t want to read guides, just try to think hard about the characters that will get impacted. These decisions will usually force you to pick a side, and the ones you don’t choose will get the short end of the stick. Be prepared to get disliked and deal with the fallout.
