Transformers: Rise of the Beasts just dropped in the cinemas, and so far, the storyline adapted has left fans in awe with the Terrorcons’ return. This film series has grown on fans long before this latest entry. It all began in 2007 when the sci-fi-themed first film scripted characters from the Transformers franchise initially produced in the 1980s. Through the years, productions have introduced newer robots modernized with advanced features. But this year’s Transformers will be different. Funnily enough, it is the seventh film in the series, but viewers get to meet the real OGs from the original animated series. One group making a grand entrance after a few years of absence is the Terrorcons.

Terrorcons Before Rise of the Beasts

In Generation 1, the Terrorcons, who got their names by being masterminds of terror, are a group of five Decepticons led by Galvatron. Their original form is vehicles, but they can transform into giant monsters too, who team up to form Abominus.

What Abominus lacks in intelligence, he has in strength. He is seen as the strongest of the Decepticons. Another mind-blowing feature of the Terrorcons is their ability to time travel. Also, since time immemorial, Terrorcons have been connected to Unicron and in this new Transformers movie, they carry out his bidding.

In Transformers: Energon, Terrorcons were created from Unicron’s parts by Quintesson Alpha Q. Their primary assignment was to join the dark god’s army. However, in Transformers: Prime, Terrorcons were portrayed as zombie Transformers who were resurrected using Dark Energeon— Unicron’s blood.

About the New Terrorcons

The Terrorcons are made up of three powerful and fierce robots: Scourge, Nightbird, and Battletrap. Their leader, Scourge, seems like a mix of G1 and Transformers: Robots in Disguise incarnations. Nightbird, a female robot full of nothing but rage when fighting, is a modified version of her G1 form.

Despite being on the same team, Nightbird and Scourge’s loyalty carry different weight. While the group’s leader’s loyalty cannot be questioned, Nightbird’s can. She is impressionable and has allied with opposing teams before her appearance in the new Transformers.

The last on the team is Battletrap, a robot that is quite private. There isn’t a lot of info about this Decepticon, other than that he first appeared as Battleslash and Roadtrap combined.

Terrorcons Finally Reappear in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts

It is not entirely puzzling why Terrorcons and Maximals have made their entry into the newest Transformers film after a long hiatus. It is set as a prequel to 2007’s Transformers, so it makes sense that they were not included in the previous entries.

Meanwhile, it has also been established that these two groups of robots stand on extreme ends. Maximals managed to develop and nurture their world while Terrorcons, unleashed by Unicron, were ready to destroy it. The reason is simple: it is in their nature. Their makeup includes dead Transformers and Dark Energon.

Despite having the Terrorcons come late to the party, there is more than enough action for them in this new entry. Keep in mind that this Decepticon subgroup wields powers that make them more dangerous than any Transformers villain seen before.

Maximals vs Terrorcons

The Steven Caple Jr. directed film which just hit the cinema is mostly influenced by the Transformers: Beast Wars plot line. While it takes place before the original series of movies, it continues the Bumblebee prequel story that debuted in 2018.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts reveals how Unicron, the planet-eating god, hopes to possess Maximals’ most significant technology — and he strikes without mercy. The Maximals comprise an evolved set of beast robots, but once they realize they are under attack from Unicron’s army led by the Terrorcons, they seek an escape plan.

Their leader, Optimus Primal, offers himself as a sacrifice for his subordinates to flee from the Terrorcons’ dreadful leader, Scourge. Consequently, the Maximals take refuge on Earth after Noah Diaz’s theft scheme exposes him to Autobot Mirage. The Maximals’ escape to Earth makes the planet vulnerable. They are hunted by Unicron who enlists the help of Predacons. So, what fans will see is a fight to finish between the opposing Transformers.
