Trump Painting Done at Liberty Ball in Pennsylvania Shines Light on Cult-Like MAGA Behavior, ‘This Guy Really Likes Being Idolized’

This belongs in an episode of the Twilight Zone

Historically, President Donald Trump and artwork have not mixed well. Following Donald Trump’s adverse comments on a piece of artwork with him as the subject in the Colorado state capital building, a video is now going viral once more featuring a second Trump painting that baffled the Internet. This one was done by an Arizona-based artist at Pennsylvania’s Liberty Ball. It’s a piece the Internet will not soon forget due to its bizarre creation and pageantry.

The video features artist Vanessa Horabuena, who refers to herself as a “Christian Worship Artist.” One look at her social media accounts shows she typically paints in a brisk fashion. Her sporadic movement some have said looks like the spirit of God himself is flowing through her. Horabuena was invited to perform her usual on-stage performance for Trump’s inauguration.

Many commenters consider her and the video idolatry. Horabuena is decked out in a flowing, black ball gown. She paints vigorously on the canvas with quick brushstrokes as music plays in the background. As the video pans around the audience, you can see expressions of awe and excitement on people’s faces, clearly impressed by the display of admiration for the President.

The crown sings along, watching her product a picture of Trump. You can’t help but stifle a laugh at how utterly ridiculous it truly is. It also has me scratching my head. Trump hasn’t shown interest in the arts or, at times, religion.

People Rightfully Poke Fun at the Pageantry

There were mixed reactions to the video on Reddit, too:

“Pray for him! I do! I try not to talk about him but lift him up to God,” one commenter said.

“MAGA is a cult, after all,” another said.

And another that echoed the same sentiment, “Brainwashed to the core. As a European Christian I’m baffled by this, did they not read the Bible?”

“painting a rapist on a church stage as a woman is WILD” wrote another commenter.

Horabuena typically creates these portraits of Jesus, Bible story depictions, and other related subjects. With that being said, to elevate Trump as Jesus incarnate is, at least to the Christian faith, a form of blasphemy. No matter how you want to look at it, this video (and the painting itself) is definitely eccentric, and not in a good way.
