Naughty Dog has announced that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be missing its intended March 2016 release date.
Neil Druckmann, creative director of Uncharted 4, announced the news on theย PlayStation Blogย that the game had been pushed back by five weeks and will now be launching on April 26th, 2016 in North America.
โThis is our largest Uncharted game to date, and the team has been working incredibly hard to meet the challenge of closing out the gameโs development in a timely manner,โ he wrote.ย โHowever, as we approached our final deadlines and started wrapping up the gameโs levels, we realized that several key sequences needed extra resources to bring them to the finish line. After carefully considering all of our options, we decided to extend our schedule, making sure that we get a few more polish passes before submitting our gold master (the final disc for manufacturing).
โPushing the date is not an easy choice, and we wouldnโt do it if we didnโt feel in our hearts itโs the best course of action for the game. To you, our loyal fans, we hope youโll accept our sincere apology. We know many of you have been waiting patiently for Nathan Drakeโs final chapter, and now we humbly ask you to wait a bit longer.”
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is the reported last game in the Uncharted series and the last game to feature Nathan Drake. Given Naughty Dog’s reputation over the last two console generations, it’s safe to assume that the game will be on par with previous titles.
