Any person of any age needs to have a minimum knowledge of how to deal with an emergency. That’s why even as children, schools and fire departments teach various courses on how to be safe in case of an emergency. But it seems that these university students on Reddit forgot everything that they learned as kids about fire security. This took the college students from a somewhat urgent case to a far too dangerous situation, putting many more people at risk.
The Redditor mudshake7 posted this video on r/Whatcouldgowrong, and its popularity spread like wildfire. The video shows a building from the outside, presumably a college dormitory. From one of the balconies of these dorms, two men appear, carefully carrying a pot on fire to the outside. From this perspective, it seemed that the guys couldn’t extinguish the pot by regular means, which led many users to believe that it was a grease fire. Then, another of the university students who were inside threw water directly into the pot, also throwing away all knowledge of fire security he supposedly had. This caused the fire to explode with force all over the outside of the dormitory and the upper balcony.
What not to do with a grease fire.

It is unbelievable and disturbing how immediately the fire got out of control in seconds because of something as simple as pouring water. Even so, the dorm was covered in flames.

Jokes aside, we can’t completely blame these college students either; everyone reacts differently when facing a risky situation. We hope that those in charge and experts in the field dealt quickly with this situation and that everyone involved was okay. If anyone has any doubts, the best way to put a small grease fire is to put the lid on the pot to extinguish it or throw in some baking soda.
