You may have noticed it already, but in case you didn’t know, a number of the Call of Duty Zombies voice actors of the same characters have changed from Cold War to Black Ops 6. But this shift of focus wasn’t as bold with Terminus Island, but in Citadelle des Morts, we’ve lost the voice of a character that we’ve known for more than 15 years.
Julie Nathanson, the voice behind Samantha Maxis ever since Call of Duty: Black Ops 1, has recently left the game, resulting in a different voice we hear in Citadelle des Morts. Now this is such a disappointing update to note, but this isn’t the only character that we’ve lost in the new Black Ops game.
Before Black Ops 6‘s release, the Zombies voice actors of William Peck, Strauss, and Dr Grey have changed for this game, but it’s so hard to differentiate their new voices from what we heard years ago in the Cold War. I’d say that these characters sound even better now with the recasts. But for Maxis, this is just too much bad news. But unfortunately enough, there’s more.
According to a social media post, a leaker is claiming that almost all the Black Ops 6 Zombies crew voice actors are leaving the project because of what is said to be a “lack of protection against AI” in their contract. This basically means that the publisher can use AI to reuse the actors’ voice lines for future updates, and that’s what they don’t agree with.
As of right now no words from Activision nor Treyarch have been said or posted anywhere on the internet regarding this matter, but the Zombies community is certainly worried about losing another OG voice actor, Nolan North. He is the voice of Edward Richtofen and he’s the reason that the Liberty Falls trailer had such a massive positive influence on the Zombies community.
So the replaced voice of S.A.M in Black Ops 6 Zombies right now in all maps is just bad and it has already left a negative impact on the community. It’s not anywhere near Julie Nathanson’s performance, and it might lead to something worse in the future. The difference is bold and if the recast goes on for big characters like Richtofen, CoD Zombies would fall into bigger trouble.
