Wendy Williams and her ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, remain at war; this time, he is going for the jugular. The talk show icon has largely retreated from the public eye to deal with the many health issues that derailed her career. However, in his latest filing amid their alimony case, Hunter showed no concern for his ex’s wellbeing as he made a huge request of her.
According to new court documents, Hunter slammed Wendy’s choice of representation, demanding that she show up to court in person. He argued that her appointed New York-based guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, is not eligible to defend her in New Jersey. “Ms. Morrisseyโs ‘pro se’ representation of Ms. Wendy Williams is akin to practicing law without a license as she is neither a barred attorney nor a Guardian appointed by a New Jersey Court,” the document obtained by The Sun read. The television producer continued:
“Ms. Morrissey is an attorney in New York, not New Jersey and though she claims to have been appointed as a Guardian in New York her Guardianship does not extend to this court as there is no Guardianship established in New Jersey.”
Hunter requested that the court order Wendy to appear on her own behalf. While he is yet to score a win, the ruling seems to be leaning in his favor. The judge presiding over the case has given Morrissey 21 days to prove she has the authority to represent Wendy.
Wendy Williams Turns To Holistic Treatment, Looking Healthy
The timing of Hunter’s demand raises eyebrows. It comes almost a month after Wendy appeared in public for the first time in months. The former radio personality was accompanied by her son, Kevin Hunter Jr, as they visited a holistic store in New Jersey. The 60-year-old flaunted a healthy glow and looked in good spirits during the outing. She donned a denim two-piece with white boots, with witnesses describing her energy as “sharp, upbeat and aware.”
Wendy and Hunter’s alimony battle has been going on for years. The former The Wendy Williams Show producer initially claimed his ex owed him 23 months in back payments for spousal support. He alleged that the talk show host stopped paying alimony before she was placed under court-appointed guardianship. However, Wendy, through her guardian, fired back, claiming Hunter owed $112,500 because he was “overpaid” for three months.
