Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is packed with new mechanics, and rumors are chief among them. Cal’s fight against the Empire will take him to new locations and planets, each with new enemies to fight and secrets to discover. Learning how rumors work will be critical to just about everything players can do in this game. This guide will explain what rumors are in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and how they work.

What are rumors in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor?

Survivor contains a bevy of new mechanics and gameplay concepts that change the game from Jedi: Fallen Order. Rumors are the in-game name for sidequests and hidden quests in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Learning how to find and pursue them is a critical skill players will need to take advantage of if they hope to do everything this experience has to offer.

Rumors come from multiple sources, but the most consistent source of new rumors is the various NPCs occupying the different bases and towns across two worlds, specifically, Jedha and Koboh. Once you unlock Greez’s “Pyloons Saloon” bar, you will earn your first set of rumors. These quests will get you started on a mission to recruit new people to Ramblers Reach Outpost.

As you recruit more walks of life to this run-down town, it will flourish, and new locations will become available to you. As you complete main story quests, remember to visit this location, as these citizens will often have new sidequests in the form of rumors for Cal to investigate and complete. These rumors will then appear in your Journal and on your world map, and they can be tracked to make them easier to search for.

Rumors range in length and difficulty, from a simple crime investigation to a game-long bounty-hunting challenge. Take advantage of these quests to give Cal a decisive advantage against the Empire in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Each rumor will count towards you earning 100% completion, and quest progression does not carry over to New Game Plus.

If you want the rewards for chasing down these secret missions, you better make sure to complete them all in one playthrough. This shouldn’t be a problem, as we took over 30 hours to complete the main story campaign while leaving plenty of opportunities to complete these activities behind.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC.
