Stardew Valley‘s new version 1.6 update brought to the game a massive array of features such as new items, mechanics, and festivals. One of the most impactful, however, is the new Green Rain weather event, which rightfully throws most of Pelican Town into a panic. But how does the Green Rain affect the environment? Here’s a full breakdown of what the Green Rain does in Stardew Valley.

Stardew Valley Green Rain, Explained

Although not poisonous or harmful to your crops and animals in any shape or form, the Green Rain will stimulate the growth of pretty much all trees in the valley. The rain will also cause sprouts like the one below to grow all over, while also covering trees with moss, and giving birth to a large amount of moss weeds. The valley will return to normal once the rain stops.

As destroying the sprouts will allow you to get a good amount of Fiddlehead Ferns, I recommend that you focus on farming both the item, as well as moss during the storm. You can bring down the sprouts by using your axe and harvest the weeds by using your scythe.

During the rain, all TV channels will be out-of-air and most of the townspeople will be gathered at The Stardrop Saloon.

When does the Green Rain Happen?

At the moment of writing, I was only able to experience the Green Rain event during the Summer. You can check out when will the storm hit by checking out the Weather Report for the following day. While checking the report, you will know that you hit the jackpot if the report mentions an anomalous reading, a clear sign of the upcoming Green Rain.

You can currently play Stardew Valley on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S. Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices.
