Payday 3 is now playable and an unknown warning appears when you launch the game for the first time. Once you start playing Payday 3, the Telemetry warning is one of the first things settings you will see. You can enable or disable this, but since there are no clear instructions about what it is all about. Let’s explain what Telemetry is and if you should enable it in Payday 3.

Telemetry is actually not something new in the Payday franchise. Telemetry is a data collection setting first featured in Payday 2. Telemetry is completely harmless and helps developers collect information about players’ preferences and gameplay. It captures your play sessions, gameplay, loadouts, weapon choices, if you play solo or not, and more. Telemetry’s purpose is to help developers improve and balance the game. This way, they will know what to buff and what to nerf in the upcoming patches.

Since this feature was so successful in Payday 2 and helped greatly in improving the game, they decided to use it in Payday 3 as well. However, some players argue that this is an invasion of privacy and that your Payday 3 account is not safe with this feature. Telemetry does not collect your personal information in any case, it can only access your in-game data. If you still do not want any of your information to be accessed, you can disable Telemetry.

Telemetry only tracks the game modes you play, your weapon and perk choices, average play session length, and other in-game information. Therefore, enabling Telemetry does not invade any of your personal information. Enabling Telemetry for the development of Payday 3 and making it a more balanced game will be the best choice.

But even if you disable Telemetry, it will not affect anything about your game and you will not lose out on anything. If you are worried about your account data reaching the developers, you can disable Telemetry from the game settings in Payday 3. However, we can confirm that this feature is completely safe and harmless.
