There are quite a few systems that you need to focus on in Warhammer 40K: Darktide, including Toughness. Now, this might be a bit difficult to really catch onto, as there are so many that you need to pay attention to. Not only is there toughness, but also Corruption, Stagger, Cleaving, and so many more. Each system is important when it comes to your gameplay, but it can also take quite a bit to get used to taking it all in at once. Keep reading to learn all about Toughness and what it is in Warhammer 40K Darktide.

Toughness is just one of the several systems that make Darktide such an interesting and complex game. However, it is easy to see what your Toughness is, as it is represented by the bar that sits above your HP bar and is blue in color. Though, depending on what class you play, the value of your Toughness bar will change. Ogryns have 100 Toughness, whereas Veterans have 200 Toughness.

Your Toughness acts the same way that a shield would in other games. It gives you an additional amount of damage you can take before your HP begins to lower. So when you first get attacked, assuming your Toughness is full, you will lose Toughness before you lose any HP in Warhammer 40K: Darktide. This can be really helpful since it will make it easier not to expend healing resources as often.

How to Regain Toughness in Warhammer 40K: Darktide

It’s inevitable that you will eventually lose some of your Toughness, but don’t worry; you can regain it in a couple of different ways.

  1. Each successful melee kill will award you a small amount of Toughness
  2. Stick near your allies, as when you’re close to them, you will regain Toughness
    1. The amount of allies you are near is what dictates how fast your Toughness will regenerate
    2. Being close to more allies will regenerate Toughness much faster than if you are only near one ally
  3. Obtaining your Level 5 Feat will give you a bit of Toughness

She strives to be a successful gaming blogger, and has no complaint about the hours of game time she used to increase her knowledge of all things “geek”. She primarily writes gaming articles and fantasy novels. Ark: Survival Evolved is a favorite, along with Diablo 3, Warframe and Minecraft lately, though you can’t forget the good old Magic the Gathering card game! Writing about games truly gives her joy as it gives her another perspective to look at games from, a reason to really look into the mechanics of the game.
