Vacher was originally a young man who hailed from the Snezhnaya area of Genshin Impact. When he went to Fontaine, he met and fell in love with a local girl named Vigneire. One day, Vigneire came into contact with Primordial Sea Water and dissolved. Depressed and desperate, Vacher spent 20-year long abducting many young women from Fontaine. He experimented on them using Water from the Primordial Sea in an attempt to bring his loved one back.

As a disguise, he destroyed all records of his past life and made a fake identity: called Marcel. He became the head of Confrerie of Cabriere and secretly started selling Sinthe, a popular drink turned dangerous drug made from diluted Primordial Sea Water. Deeming Sinthe to be extremely harmful, the then-president of the Spina di Rosula, Callas, banned the drink. He also convinced a Sinthe seller to help with his drug investigation. Vacher’s info was slowly revealed during “The Truth, Lost With the Rain” Genshin Impact quest.

Backed into a wall, Vacher hired an assassin and managed to both kill the seller who betrayed him and ruin Callas’s reputation. Callas dueled against Clorinde, a Champion Duelist and Furina’s bodyguard, to maintain his honor and innocence, but he was killed. While Navia, Callas’s daughter, is a loose end, Vacher decided not to touch her fearing a costly war against Spina di Rosula.

Years later the Traveler arrived in Fontaine. At the same time as Marcel, Vacher is planning to abduct his next target at the Genshin Impact 4.0 Opera Epiclese building. But his plan was foiled and Vacher had to escalate his scheme. He targeted Navia but with Traveler and Paimon’s intervention, Vacher’s motives and schemes were unveiled once and for all.

Vacher met his end at “When All Return to the Waters” Genshin Impact Quest. The Traveler said that Marcel’s real identity was revealed by the Fountain of Lucine. There, drunk on Primordial Sea Water, Vacher saw the mysterious Oceanid that he believed was Vigneire. But “Vigneire” rejected him and hated his crimes. Instead, it turns into the collective consciousness of his victims. The Oceanid took his soul and his death was ruled happened because of “massive fright.”
