Perfect Match fans have called out star Shayne Jansen for his annoying behavior on the series. Love Is Blind alum Shayne Jansen can’t seem to shake off his controversial nature because wherever he goes, trouble always finds a way to tail behind him. As soon as reports named him as one of the cast for Netflix’s new dating series Perfect Match, fellow Love Is Blind alum Natalie Lee alleged that Shayne Jansen was still dating her when he signed up for Perfect Match.
Natalie and Shayne met on Love Is Blind season 2 where they coupled up. After they moved out of the pods, their relationship was very tumultuous and eventually culminated in their split at the end of the season. Nevertheless, the two briefly rekindled their romance outside the show, and Natalie now claims that was when Shayne accepted the opportunity to star in the dating show. The reality star detailed her timeline of events in a post on her Instagram story. She claimed that Netflix approached both for the show in September 2021 as they kept their relationship private. Natalie said:
“We each told each other we declined the opportunity. I later found out he actually didn’t decline and started the casting process in November 2021.”
Still, Shayne denied the claims vehemently before giving his timeline of events which resulted in a huge drama. However, nothing consequential came out of the whole controversy, and Perfect Match premiered on February 14. However, besides his drama with Natalie, Shayne’s Perfect Match debut has already made him unpopular with the fans. Shayne is quite annoying, and most of the fans can’t seem to understand what the new girls find so attractive about him and have taken to social media to air their thoughts.
Perfect Match Fans Feel Shayne Isn’t a Catch
Most of the show’s fans took to their usual venting platform Reddit to give their opinions about Shayne on the show. One Reddit user, “thinking_muffin,” started a thread tagged “idk why Shane is considered such a catch.” The original poster (OP) described Shayne as insecure, immature, childish, obnoxious, and relatively unintelligent. The user then asked why everyone kept telling the new girls to go for Shayne and wondered if all the other guys were that bad. Many of the users agreed with the OP. They could not seem to understand why Shayne generated so much interest from the new girls giving all his “unwanted” traits. One user wrote:
“He’s so gross! The hunched-over, mouth-open, wide-eyed stare is so creepy. Not to mention that he’s a walking red flag.”
Another user who had watched Shayne during his time on Love Is Blind claimed Natalie was right in her call of Shayne being quite problematic. The user advised that he needs therapy to deal with his insecurities.
Perfect Match Fans Think Shayne Is Insecure
A more significant percentage of show fans would rarely share the same view on a particular topic. However, most Perfect Match fans are on the same page regarding Shayne being insecure. Many of the users highlighted how Shayne’s insecurities had crossed the threshold of normal behavior.
While commenting on the thread, one user replied:
“I’ve finally found my tribe! LIB is obsessed with him. His constant need for attention and validation is draining to watch. Plus he cheated on Natalie with MULTIPLE women.”
Another Redditor added:
“Yea he’s super insecure and controlling and just a man-child needing to be coddled. And I think he has a coke problem I’ve seen that behavior firsthand from an addict.”
While the addiction claims might be pure speculation, most fans slammed Shayne’s “big eye stare.” Many users noted that they found it creepy and described his behavior as erratic. Love him or hate him, Shayne delivers some premium entertainment with his behavior — and some of the fans even admitted to that. He might not go all the way, but every show needs such a character, and the producers understand this.
