Despite introducing new modes each season, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 players have found themselves wondering why its Duo mode has been removed. The popular mode has been a staple in the franchise since the introduction of the original battle royale, continuously being present alongside its Solos, Trios, and Quads variants. Now, players have grown frustrated that the shooter has seemingly left the mode out for weeks on end. This begs the question, why did Warzone 2‘s Duos get removed, and when will it return?

What Happened to Warzone 2 Duos Mode?

Although it has become highly popular, the Duos mode in Warzone 2 was removed from the game to temporarily make room for newer modes. On April 26, the game’s weekly playlist rotation opted to rather include Resurgence, Plunder, and all other standard modes. However, this trend has continued with all playlists since, featuring most fan favorites aside from Duos.

Developer Raven Software nor Publisher Activision have given fans a reason for the mode’s prolonged absence. Instead, the game has only gone on to sport Resurgence Duos for players who want to venture into its small Ashika Island map. Additionally, its Season 3 Reloaded update even went on to remove Trios as well, deciding only to offer Solo and Quads options for its Al Mazrah map for the time being.

When Will Duos Mode Return in Warzone 2?

Thankfully, it is confirmed that Duos mode will return in the near future. According to the Season 3 Reloaded patch notes, two-person squads can play together once more in Al Mazrah upon the release of the May 24 weekly playlist. That means players will go almost an entire month without the feature for the first time since the game’s debut. The upcoming rotation is also said to hold standard Trios and Quads modes along with Resurgence and Massive Resurgence.

Until that time comes, players can at least hop into a Trios match in the new Ranked Play feature. The competitive mode introduces several Skill Divisions gunners can progress through simply by achieving eliminations or assists. Players can even be rewarded everything from exclusive Operator skins and Blueprints to even Charms each time they level up. Better yet, Ranked Play is expected to remain on weekly playlists.
