Four months after the 2022 Oscars slapping incident, Will Smith apologizes to Chris Rock on Social Media. The actor took out time on July 29th to apologize to everyone affected by that incident after deep reflection. Will had a lot to say about the unpleasant incident between him and Rock below.
Will Smith Finally Apologizes to Chris Rock
In the video, which has garnered several reactions, Will started by admitting that he has been doing a lot of thinking and personal work. It’s no doubt that fans had several questions regarding the Oscars incident, so Will took some time to address these questions while apologizing to the Oscars 2022 host.
The ‘Fresh Prince of Bel Air’ stated that he tried to reach out to Chris initially. However, he got a response that Chris wasn’t ready to talk, but he will reach out once he was ready. The rapper and producer then went on to apologize to Chris while admitting that his behavior at the Oscars was totally unacceptable.
Remorseful Will Smith Apologizes to Everyone
Will also went on to state that he failed to think about the people hurt by his action. Will Smith then apologized to Chris Rock’s family, starting with his mom. Then Will also apologized to Tony Rock, who he referred to as ‘his man.’ The 53-year-old Oscar winner, who had been away from the media for three months, agreed that his reaction was not the best. He also cleared the air as he stated that his wife, Jada Smith, didn’t have a hand in the incident.
Will admitted that his reaction to Chris was a result of his personal experience with him. The psychologically and emotionally hurt Will apologized to his family for bringing such ‘heat’ on them. He was quite remorseful as he apologized to his fellow Oscar nominees and everyone that voted and looked up to him.
Will Smith, while trying to apologize to Chris Rock, indicated that he’s really trying not to feel like shit. In his words:
“I’m a human and I made a mistake. And I’m trying not to think of myself as a piece of s–t,”
Will concluded his apology to Chris Rock by stating that he’s turning onto positivity henceforth. He said:
“So I would say to those people, I know it was confusing. I know it was shocking. But I promise you, I am deeply devoted and committed to putting light and love and joy into the world. And you know, if you if you hang on a promise we’ll be able to be friends again.”
It’s undeniable that Will’s action at the Oscars was not his best. Many people think that he’s bold for owning up and apologizing to Chris. Currently, fans are desperate to hear Chris’ response.
