Later this year, DC is bringing new Wonder Woman and Blue Beetle stories to readers. Two upcoming graphic novels will explore the early days of the DC heroes. Wonder Woman: The Adventures of Young Diana comes from the creative team of Jordie Bellaire and Paulina Ganucheau. It will give readers a look at Diana’s upbringing. Meanwhile, This Land Is Our Land: A Blue Beetle Story is from Julio Anta, Jacoby Salcedo, and Francesco Segala. It will tell a wonderful coming-of-age story involving everyone’s favorite bug-themed DC hero.

These two graphic novels take readers back to the very early days of these iconic heroes. In Wonder Woman: The Adventures of Young Diana, we see the young princess’ childhood in Themyscira. This includes her struggles to find her place in this island that can often feel more like a prison than a home.

It will collect several popular Wonder Woman stories. This includes Wonder Woman #770-779, #785-796, and the Wonder Woman 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular. These issues show the young hero and her desire to do more in the world.

Meanwhile, This Land Is Our Land: A Blue Beetle Story follows high schooler Jaime Reyes. As the young herp navigates life as a teen in El Paso, Texas, he discovers that his border community is being used in a toxic immigration debate. As tensions escalate along the border, one of Jaime’s friends joins a hate group looking to ramp up the violence. Of course, this is compounded as Reyes discovers an ancient-bug-like relic from the stars that stir up strange dreams.

Graphic Novels For Youngsters

These new graphic novels are part of DC’s series for young adult readers. While Diana has already starred in stories meant for a younger audience, this is Blue Beetle’s debut. These graphic novels use the adventure of comic storytelling to tell coming-of-age stories. For these releases, both heroes work to find their place as young adults and superheroes.

Wonder Woman: The Adventures of Young Diana is on sale 08/06 while This Land Is Our Land: A Blue Beetle Story hits shelves on 10/01. Both are available for pre-order now.
