WRATH: Aeon of Ruin Update
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information.

It’s been glorious to see the recent rise of boomer shooters. Ever since the launch of DOOM (2016), bringing the fast-paced carnage to the mainstream, developers have followed suit and made some fantastic creations. From great Early Access creations to fantastic games yet to come, there’s plenty for fans of old-school titles. Today, one of those titles is getting a little more. WRATH: Aeon of Ruin is getting its third content update today, prior to it’s 1.0 launch in the Summer of this year. If you’d like to see the trailer for the latest update, have a look below.

In WRATH: Aeon of Ruin’s latest update, you can explore the final location of WRATH’s first hub known as The Hollow. As the name implies, this level is a dense forest stuffed with ancient ruins to explore among many otherworldly secrets and dangers. Braving the dangers of The Hollow will score you the new Trinket of Deflection, an artifact that lets you summon an Arcane Shield. This can help you either defensively to survive tense situations, or offensively as you tear through the forces in the forest. It should prove a fine addition to anyone’s arsenal, especially against the water-dwelling Lurker.

With today’s update, the team says that WRATH: Aeon of Ruin will no longer be receiving updates until launch. This is to ensure they can triple the content with two more hub worlds, expanding the game heavily for launch. While it’s a shame that we’ll have to wait just a little longer, the outlook is a positive one. If you’d like more reassurance, here’s Frederik Schreiber, Vice President of 3D Realms and producer on WRATH, to drive the point home:

While delays are never ideal, we wanted to release one awesome final update before going heads down to knock this out of the park. Summer may seem far away, but we are working diligently to makeย WRATHย the best game it can be.โ€
