Nestled in a statementย announcingย Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard for a dizzying $68.7 billion, Xbox head Phil Spencer revealed Xbox Game Pass now boasts more than 25 million subscribers. Previous figuresย sharedย in January 2021 tallied over 18 million subscribers – a 7 million leap in only twelve months.

Often described as the ‘Netflix of video games,’ Xbox Games Pass grants access to a growing catalog of games from Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda, EA, and many more individual developers and publishers on PC and Xbox consoles for a monthly sum. Microsoft says the upcoming acquisition of Activision Blizzard will see the selection of games balloon further courtesy of both new and older titles from the publisher’s catalog. With all the new additions to the Xbox Game Pass Subscribers here is a preview of what to expect going forward.

Upon close, we will offer as many Activision Blizzard games as we can within Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass, both new titles and games from Activision Blizzardโ€™s incredible catalog. We also announced today that Game Pass now has more than 25 million subscribers. As always, we look forward to continuing to add more value and more great games to Game Pass.

Activision Blizzard Catalog to Bolster Xbox Game Pass Lineup

Activision Blizzard’s catalog includes popular franchises such asย Call of Duty,ย World of Warcraft,ย Starcraft,ย Diablo, andย Crash Bandicoot, to name a handful. Any combination of these in the Xbox Game Pass should add considerable value to what is already considered one of the most value-packed lineupsย of any subscription service on the market today.

The acquisition also bolsters Microsoftโ€™s Game Pass portfolio with plans to launch Activision Blizzard games into Game Pass, which has reached a new milestone of over 25 million subscribers. With Activision Blizzardโ€™s nearly 400 million monthly active players in 190 countries and three billion-dollar franchises, this acquisition will make Game Pass one of the most compelling and diverse lineups of gaming content in the industry. Upon close, Microsoft will have 30 internal game development studios, along with additional publishing and esports production capabilities.

With Microsoft now past the 25 million milestone, we’re fascinated to see where the subscriber count sits this time next year once Microsoft incorporates the Activision Blizzard portfolio into Xbox Game Pass.
