XDefiant Promises a Year Chock-Full of Content With its Roadmap

More content is on the way

The release of XDefiant has been a long time coming for both the community and the developers at Ubisoft. Years of development, betas, and playtests have gone into the final build of the game, which is running fairly smoothly after a rocky start. However, fans haven’t even gotten a full taste of XDefiant yet, as the official content roadmap promises plenty of new updates over the next calendar year.

While plans can still change between now and 2025, Ubisoft is planning a plethora of content and updates for XDefiant. New weapons, Factions, maps, modes, and cosmetics are all in store for the future. Below, you can see exactly what the roadmap holds for XDefiant for its first year.

The current version of XDefiant, launched on May 21, is considered the “preseason” of the FPS. The preseason is set to last for roughly 42 days, putting the release of Season 1 right at the start of July. This is when the roadmap comes into play, and fans start seeing new content in XDefiant.

According to Ubisoft, year one of XDefiant will include 4 new Factions, 12 weapons, and 12 maps, among a flurry of other content. The year is divided into four distinct seasons, each centered around releasing a new Faction. The four seasons will also deliver a fresh 90 Tier Battle Pass chock-full of cosmetics, such as Operator and weapon skins.

In addition to all of that, a fully functioning Ranked mode and Private Matches are coming sometime after the preseason. Private Matches will also receive a caster cam system similar to Call of Duty’s CODCaster.

Below, you can see each planned season of XDefiant laid out, according to the roadmap:

Season 1

  • Ruby Faction
  • 3 Weapons
  • 3 Maps
  • 90 Tier Battle Pass

Season 2

  • Buzz Faction
  • 3 Weapons
  • 3 Maps
  • 90 Tier Battle Pass

Season 3

  • Orchard Faction
  • 3 Weapons
  • 3 Maps
  • 90 Tier Battle Pass

Season 4

  • Horde Faction
  • 3 Weapons
  • 3 Maps
  • 90 Tier Battle Pass

While it’s still unclear whether Ubisoft can deliver on the roadmap’s promises, the early signs for XDefiant are promising. The game feels incredibly smooth and fluid and features the classic arena shooter vibe that’s been missing from the FPS genre. However, server issues and further delays could hamper the game’s ability to grow and maintain players.
