Capcom Finally Comments on the Poorly Optimized Monster Hunter Wilds Performance on PC

The game has all sorts of monsters, big ones, small ones… technical ones…

Capcom has addressed the Monster Hunter Wilds performance issues reported by PC players following the game’s release last Friday. While the game has been praised for its gameplay and design, the PC version has faced widespread criticism for optimization problems, with players reporting framerate drops, stuttering, and other technical issues. Despite these challenges, the game reached nearly one million concurrent players on Steam during its launch night.

To Capcom fans, this might seem a bit familiar, because the release of Dragon’s Dogma 2 had a very similar story when it came to the PC release. The company has achieved mastery when it comes to optimizing games on PC if they’re not open-world, but if they are, they tend to have a rocky start.

In response to the Monster Hunter Wilds PC issues, Capcom has provided a series of troubleshooting steps to help players improve their experience. A post on the official Monster Hunter Status support account suggests updating graphics drivers, turning off compatibility mode, and readjusting in-game settings as initial fixes. Additionally, Capcom’s support website outlines further steps, such as adding the game’s folder and files to a player’s anti-virus exception list.

For players still experiencing Monster Hunter Wilds performance problems, Capcom has directed them to the Troubleshooting & Issue Reporting Thread on the Steam community page. This thread contains more detailed solutions and additional steps that may help resolve persistent issues. But lets be honest, the ball is in Capcom’s court at this point.

While the PC version has faced technical challenges, Monster Hunter Wilds has been well-received on other platforms. We here at TheNerdStash gave it a 10 in our review, and called it the ultimate monster-hunting experience.

Capcom has not yet announced a timeline for a potential patch to address the Monster Hunter Wilds PC performance issues, but the company’s response suggests that it is actively working to improve the experience for affected players. But until those patches start flowing in, the biggest monster for PC players is none other than the framerate itself.
